Head to Toe is our widest blend: eight organic or wildcrafted herbs in a single vegetable capsule. A 4 capsule serving carries 1,800 mg of herb, and each tube holds 120 capsules, a 30 day supply at the directed 4 a day.
It is also the most Latin American formula we make. Hierba del sapo and cocolmeca are not herbs you find in a typical American supplement, and they are the reason this blend exists.
Previously sold as Happy Brain, and later as Happy Healthy Body. Same formula, same tube, clearer name.
What is inside, per 4 capsule serving
- Hierba del Sapo aerial parts (Eryngium heterophyllium) 232 mg
- Burdock Root (Arctium lappa) 224 mg
- Cocolmeca Root (Smilax dominquensis) 224 mg
- Yellow Dock Root (Rumex crispus) 224 mg
- Red Clover whole plant (Trifolium pratense) 224 mg
- Elderberry Fruit (Sambucus nigra) 224 mg
- Sarsaparilla Root (Smilax spp) 224 mg
- Blue Vervain whole plant (Verbena hastata) 224 mg
That is 56 mg of each herb per capsule. Other ingredients: vegetable cellulose, the capsule itself. No fillers, no additives, no flow agents.
Hierba del sapo, the one people come looking for
Hierba del sapo, sometimes written yerba de sapo, is Eryngium heterophyllium, a spiky plant from the humid regions of Mexico. The name means toad's herb. It has a long history in Mexican folk practice and it is genuinely hard to find in capsule form outside Latin American markets, which is why it leads this blend.
We will be straight about the evidence: hierba del sapo has been very little studied. Published reviews describe the whole Eryngium genus as poorly investigated, and there is no established reference dose for it. We include it because of its tradition, not because of a clinical file.
Cocolmeca
Cocolmeca is Smilax dominquensis, a climbing jungle vine. The name comes from Nahuatl and is usually translated as vine for caregiving. It is a relative of sarsaparilla, which also appears in this blend as a separate Smilax species.
The rest of the blend
Burdock root, a long taproot used across European and North American herbalism. Yellow dock, the root of a wild buckwheat relative, called lengua de vaca in Spanish. Red clover, the pink field flower, trébol rojo. Elderberry, the dark fruit of the elder tree, saúco. Sarsaparilla, the root beer botanical, zarzaparrilla. Blue vervain, verbena azul, a tall North American wildflower.
Quality and sourcing
Organic or wildcrafted depending on the harvest. The herbs come from the USA, Albania, Brazil, Eastern Europe, Honduras and Poland. Third party tested for identity, microbials and heavy metals. Vegan capsules, vegetable cellulose, no gelatin. Store tightly closed in a dry place at room temperature, 59 to 86°F.
Prefer a single herb?
Six of these are sold on their own, at a single herb dose rather than a blended one:
- Cocolmeca capsules
- Burdock root capsules
- Black sarsaparilla capsules
- Red clover, loose leaf
- Yellow dock, loose leaf
- Blue vervain powder
This blend is for people who want the combination in one capsule rather than a shelf of jars. If you want one herb at a fuller dose, the single herb products above are the better choice.
Frequently asked questions
How many capsules should I take?
Our label directs 4 capsules in the morning. That is a 1,800 mg serving and a 30 day supply per tube. That is the guidance we stand behind rather than anything more.
What is hierba del sapo?
A spiky Mexican plant, Eryngium heterophyllium, whose name translates as toad's herb. The aerial parts are used. It is uncommon in American supplements and is the distinguishing ingredient in this blend.
Is cocolmeca the same as sarsaparilla?
They are relatives, not the same plant. Both are Smilax. Cocolmeca here is Smilax dominquensis; the sarsaparilla in this blend is listed as Smilax spp. Both are in the formula as separate ingredients.
Is it vegan?
Yes. The shell is a vegetable cellulose capsule, not gelatin.
How much of each herb is in a capsule?
56 mg of each, and 232 mg of hierba del sapo per serving against 224 mg for the other seven. The full panel is on this page.
Why so many herbs at once?
This is a traditional combination blend rather than a single herb at a therapeutic dose. If you want one herb at a fuller dose, the single herb capsules linked above are the better choice.
