Description & Ingredients

Muicle is a flowering shrub from Mexico and Central America, known to botanists as Justicia spicigera and to gardeners as Mexican honeysuckle for its bright orange tubular flowers. In Spanish it also goes by sangre de cristo, a name earned by what happens in the teapot. The muicle plant has been part of traditional Mexican households for centuries.

Brew the dried leaves and the water turns a deep red that can shift toward purple, one of the most striking colors of any herbal tea. Te de muicle is caffeine free, with a mild, gently earthy flavor.

Each bag holds 4 oz of organic or wildcrafted muicle from Mexico, cut and sifted. Just the plant, nothing added.

Pregnant or nursing mothers, individuals under 18, and individuals with known medical conditions should consult a physician before use.

How to Use

HOW TO MAKE MUICLE TEA:

Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of cut muicle to 8 fl oz of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, until the water turns deep red. Strain and enjoy hot, or chill it for iced te de muicle.
