Description & Ingredients

Ginger root is the knobby underground stem of Zingiber officinale, a tropical plant grown across Asia. Ours is cut and sifted from organic or wildcrafted roots sourced from Indonesia, dried and ready to steep, with the sweet, warm, spicy bite ginger is loved for. In Spanish it is called jengibre. Each bag contains 4 oz.

Ginger has flavored food and drink around the world for centuries. It is the warmth in a cup of ginger tea, a classic partner to honey and lemon, the spark in stir fries, curries, and soups, and a lively note in smoothies and fresh juices. Because ours is already cut and sifted, it drops straight into a teapot or infuser with no peeling or grating.

We keep it simple, just dried ginger root with nothing added. Store the bag sealed and away from heat and light to keep the aroma sharp and the flavor bright.

Store tightly closed in a dry place at room temperature, 59 to 86°F (15 to 30°C), as printed on the bag.

Frequently asked questions

Does ginger tea have caffeine?
No. Ginger is naturally caffeine free, and nothing else is in the bag, so there is no caffeine in this tea at all.

How do you make ginger root tea?
Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of cut and sifted ginger root to 8 fl oz of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain. Full method in our ginger root tea guide.

Can you make ginger tea with dried ginger instead of fresh?
Yes, and it is easier. Dried root is more concentrated and already cut and sifted, so it goes straight into a teapot or infuser with no peeling or grating.

Is dried ginger stronger than fresh?
Different rather than stronger. Drying concentrates the root by weight and shifts the flavour warmer and less sharp, so a teaspoon of dried goes further than a teaspoon of fresh in a cup. For tea, dried is the easier of the two, because there is no peeling and no grating and it stores for months. For a stir fry, fresh still wins on texture.

How much ginger do you use per cup, and how long do you steep it?
About 1 to 2 teaspoons per 8 fl oz. Steep 5 minutes for a mild cup, up to 10 for a stronger, spicier one.

What is ginger root tea, and what is in it?
It is tea brewed from the dried root of Zingiber officinale, nothing else. This bag is one ingredient: cut and sifted ginger root, no fillers, no additives.

Is it organic, and where is it from?
It is organic or wildcrafted ginger root from Indonesia, with nothing added.

What does ginger tea taste like?
Warm, sweet and spicy, with a gentle heat at the back of the throat.

What is jengibre in English?
Ginger. Jengibre is the Spanish name for Zingiber officinale, the same root. This bag is dried, cut and sifted jengibre from Indonesia, one ingredient, nothing added.

Pregnant or nursing mothers, individuals under 18, and individuals with known medical conditions should consult a physician before use.

How to Use

DIRECTIONS:

Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of cut and sifted ginger root to 8 fl oz of boiling water, depending on how strong you like it. Cover and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain and enjoy. For a classic cup, add a slice of lemon and a spoon of honey. It also pairs well with a pinch of turmeric.

It can also be added to smoothies, foods and juices, as the label says.

Store tightly closed in a dry place at room temperature, 59 to 86°F (15 to 30°C).
