Ninety vegetable capsules of burdock root, Arctium lappa, known in Spanish as bardana or raíz de bardana. Each capsule holds 450 mg, and a three capsule serving gives 1,350 mg. Thirty servings per tube. Grown and harvested in Albania.
One herb, and nothing else
This is a single herb supplement. Burdock root and a vegetable cellulose capsule, no fillers, no binders, no flow agents, no rice powder making up the weight. If you want burdock in a blend we also sell it with sea moss and bladderwrack, but this one is burdock on its own.
What burdock root is
Burdock is a tall biennial in the daisy family, related to sunflowers and thistles. The root is the part used, dug in the autumn of the first year or the spring of the second. In Japan it is an everyday vegetable called gobo, sliced into stir fries and braises. In Britain it was one half of the old fermented drink dandelion and burdock. It is those burrs, the hooked seed heads that stick to a dog's coat, that gave the world Velcro after a Swiss engineer looked at them under a microscope.
How it is tested
Third party tested for identity, microbials and heavy metals. Identity testing matters more than it sounds for burdock specifically: the root looks similar to belladonna root once dried, and historical poisoning cases traced to burdock tea were later shown to be belladonna contamination, not burdock. Testing is how you know what is in the tube.
How people take it
The label says one to three capsules daily. Most people take them with food and with a full glass of water.
Also available loose
The same root, cut and sifted in a 4 oz bag, if you would rather brew it as a tea than swallow a capsule.
