This bundle brings together four of our loose herbs to brew, plus a glass tea infuser to make them in.
Elderberries
4 oz of whole organic or wildcrafted dried elderberries (bayas de saúco, Sambucus nigra) from Albania. Deep, dark and tart, with a jammy note once cooked. Simmer them, never steep, and never raw.
Mullein Flowers
2 oz of organic or wildcrafted mullein flowers (gordolobo, Verbascum thapsus) from Mexico. Mild and lightly sweet, a little like honey and hay. Strain through fine mesh to catch the tiny plant hairs.
Hibiscus Flowers
4 oz of organic or wildcrafted whole dried hibiscus flowers (flor de jamaica, Hibiscus sabdariffa) from Egypt. Tart and fruity, close to cranberry, and it colours the cup ruby red.
Soursop Leaves
2 oz of whole organic or wildcrafted dried soursop leaves (hojas de guanabana, Annona muricata) from Peru. Mild and earthy with a light tang, more green and herbal than fruity.
Double Wall Tea Infuser, 17 oz
A double wall glass bottle with a bamboo lid and a stainless steel mesh strainer, for brewing and carrying loose leaf tea.
Elderberries
DIRECTIONS: Elderberries must be cooked, never eaten raw. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of dried elderberries to 10 oz of boiling water. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, simmered, not steeped. Strain, then enjoy.
Mullein Flowers
DIRECTIONS: Mullein flowers are traditionally prepared as a tea. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of mullein flowers to 8 oz of boiling water. Cover and steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Strain through a fine mesh to catch the tiny plant hairs, then enjoy.
Hibiscus Flowers
DIRECTIONS: Hibiscus flowers are known for their tart, fruity flavor and are traditionally prepared as tea. Add 1 teaspoon of hibiscus flowers to 8 oz of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain, then enjoy hot, or brew it stronger and pour over ice for agua de jamaica.
Soursop Leaves
DIRECTIONS: Soursop leaves are traditionally prepared as a tea. Add 2 to 3 leaves to 8 oz of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5 minutes. Strain, then enjoy.
