Description & Ingredients

Chamomile is the small flower of Matricaria chamomilla, a plant in the daisy family, beloved for its soft, sweet aroma that many compare to apple. Ours are whole organic or wildcrafted flowers sourced from Egypt, dried and loose, ready to steep into a gentle golden cup. In Spanish it is called manzanilla, which means little apple, a nod to that scent. Each bag contains 2 oz.

Chamomile tea is one of the most loved herbal teas in the world, a soft floral cup enjoyed on its own or blended with lavender, mint, honey, or a little vanilla. Because these are whole loose flowers rather than tea bags, you control the strength, and the flowers can also be used in infusions, baths, and homemade tea blends.

We keep it simple, just whole dried chamomile flowers with nothing added. Store the bag sealed and away from heat and light to protect the delicate aroma.

Store tightly closed in a dry place at room temperature, 59 to 86°F (15 to 30°C), as printed on the bag.

Frequently asked questions

Does chamomile tea have caffeine?
No. Chamomile is naturally caffeine free, so a cup has no caffeine at all.

How do you make chamomile tea?
Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of dried chamomile flowers to 8 fl oz of boiling water. Cover and steep 3 to 5 minutes, then strain.

What does chamomile tea taste like?
Soft, floral and gently sweet, with an apple like note. That is where the Spanish name manzanilla, little apple, comes from.

Are whole loose chamomile flowers better than tea bags?
Loose whole flowers let you control the strength and brew a fuller cup than the dust in most tea bags. These are whole flowers, not cut or powdered.

What is chamomile tea, and what is in it?
It is tea brewed from the dried flowers of Matricaria chamomilla. This bag is one ingredient: organic or wildcrafted whole chamomile flowers from Egypt, nothing added.

Where can I buy dried chamomile flowers?
Here. Orders leave in 1 to 2 business days, and we ship worldwide with duty pre paid for most countries. These are whole flowers rather than the cut dust in most tea bags, so a fine mesh strainer or an infuser is worth having. The rest of the range is in loose leaf herbs and teas.

What goes well with chamomile?
It is soft and floral, so it takes other gentle flowers rather than bitter roots. Lavender flowers, loose is the classic evening pairing, and a pinch of spearmint leaf, loose lifts it if you want something brighter.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Chamomile is in the daisy family (Asteraceae), alongside ragweed, chrysanthemum, marigold and echinacea. If you are allergic to any of those, do not use it. Chamomile is the most common cause of allergic reaction among herbal teas, and the cross reaction with ragweed is well documented.
  • Not for use during pregnancy or nursing.
  • Not recommended for anyone under 18.
  • Individuals with known medical conditions should consult a physician before use.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

How to Use

DIRECTIONS:

Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of chamomile flowers to 8 fl oz of boiling water. Cover and steep for 3 to 5 minutes, then strain and enjoy. Keep it covered while it steeps, because the aroma is the whole point and it leaves with the steam. For a floral evening cup, pair it with a pinch of lavender.

Store tightly closed in a dry place at room temperature, 59 to 86°F (15 to 30°C).
